Broncos go 4-0 led by tournament most valuable player Sophia Azevedo

COVELO >> Middletown Middle School’s girls basketball B team won the championship in the Covelo seventh-grade tournament Saturday in Covelo.
The Broncos won all four of their games led by tournament most valuable player Sophia Azevedo and All-Tournament selection Sophia Perez.
Against Eagle Peak in the championship, Azevedo led the way with eight points as the Broncos prevailed 27-22. Camila Galvan added five points.
Middletown opened tournament play with a 26-9 win over Obsidian as Azevedo scored six points and Perez and Rylee Gabbert each had four. The Broncos came right back with a 15-6 win over Eagle Peak, Perez leading the way with six points. In their third game of the day, Middletown beat Laytonville 25-8 behind nine points from Azevedo and six from Katera Gotz.
Middletown is 11-2 on the season.
