ST. HELENA >> Madelyn Garner connected from 3-point range six times Friday night as the Lower Lake High School junior varsity girls basketball team rolled to a 55-17 victory over the St. Helena Saints in North Central League I action in St. Helena.

Garner finished with a team-best 20 points as the Trojans improved to 3-1 in the league standings and 10-2 overall.

Brooklynn Tubbs joined Garner in double digits with 10 points while Khaya Chana and Leanna Ortega each had nine.

All six of Garner’s 3-pointers came in the first half.

“We were able to work on our press during the first half,” Lower Lake head coach Jessica Wiley said. “That gave us the room to then work on our zone defense. Our starters got to rest a bit in the second half to give our other girls a chance to see the court more.”

Added Wiley, “We still have some things to clean up in practice to continue this momentum.”
