Cardinals also claim handful of individual first-place finishes

MIDDLETOWN >> Clear Lake High School’s wrestling team brought home the team championship trophy Saturday from the Dennis Jensen Invitational at Middletown High School.
“It was the first time CLHS has won that tournament in 10-plus years,” Clear Lake head coach Markham Odell said. “We also won the team sportsmanship award voted on by the referees.”
The Cardinals piled up plenty of individual honors as well, including firsts by Saul Rascon (146 pounds), Landen Noisat (177), William Greene (192) and Ralphy Blancas (217) in the boys bracket and Ema Vasquez (145) and Nikki Buechler (235) in the girls bracket.
Clear Lake’s other top placers in the boys bracket were Silas Reese, second at 134; Adrian Truby, second at 140; Conri Richardson, third at 159; Caron Wikstrom, third at 167; Armando Alvarez, fourth at 152; and Justin Saez, fifth at 140.
