MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown High School senior Mia Hoogendoorn joined an elite group of Lake County players who have scored 1,200 career points Thursday afternoon as the Mustangs defeated Concord 47-34 in non-league varsity girls basketball action at Middletown.
Hoogendoorn led the Mustangs (9-4) with 22 points, moving her into a tie for 22nd place with former Kelseyville great Shalonda Bowden (1,201 points) on the list of the county’s all-time career scoring leaders. Hoogendoorn is the 23rd county player to score 1,200 or more points and she is currently on pace to break Middletown’s all-time scoring record of 1,314 points held by Ashlyn Welton.
“Our shooting was a bit off, but that’s expected given we haven’t played in two weeks,” Middletown head coach Roxi Holt said. “It was good to get out there and play before we enter league again.”
Jordyn Harbison contributed 12 points to the Middletown win and Harley Holley had eight.
