Mendocino College drops to 2-3 in Bay Valley Conference action

NAPA >> The Mendocino Eagles put up a fight before falling to Napa Valley College in Bay Valley Conference women’s volleyball action Wednesday night in Napa.
Napa College prevailed 25-22, 25-17, 25-27, 25-22.
“We started off slow but picked it up in the third and fourth sets,” Mendocino College head coach Kat Edmonds said. “We have a starter out due to injury, so we had to make an adjustment, and the girls adjusted well.,”
Stella Hill (Clear Lake) led the Eagles (2-3 conference, 8-18 overall) at the net with 13 kills while also adding 10 digs, one block and one ace. Montana Wells (Clear Lake) and Cora Holley (Middletown) added nine and eight kills, respectively. Wells also had nine digs.
Other team leaders were Maddy Brewster (Clear Lake) with 12 digs and four kills, Breanna Pyzer (Middletown) with 17 digs and one ace, and Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) with 35 assists and two aces.
“We were actually down 13-2 in the third set and 21-13, and came back for the win,” Edmonds said. “They never gave up and kept pushing.”
Mendocino College is off until Friday, Oct. 25 when it travels to Solano College to open up the second half of its BVC schedule.
