LOWER LAKE >> Roy Percoats scored on Lower Lake’s first play from scrimmage, one of his two touchdowns on the night, as the Lower Lake varsity youth football team shut out Fort Bragg 30-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday at Gordon Sadler Field in Lower Lake.
Fort Bragg fumbled away the opening kickoff and Percoats scored on the very next play, a 32-yard run.
The Trojans (3-1) forced a punt before scoring two plays later on another Percoats run. The two-point conversion by Ismael Orozco kick made it a 14-0 game.
Fort Bragg’s next possession ended with Damien Johns intercepting a pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown. Another Orozco two-point conversion kick boosted the Trojans’ lead to 22-0.
“Damien John did a really good job on defense making several tackles and having the interception,” Lower Lake head coach Mark Garner said.
Orozco scored the final Lower Lake touchdown and added his third conversion kick to make it 30-0.
“Orozco did a great job on special teams,” said Garner, who said the win over Fort Bragg was a total team effort.
“The kids did a tremendous job on offense, defense and special teams,” he said.
