UPPER LAKE >> Scoring five touchdowns on just 10 offensive plays, the pee wee Lower Lake Trojans beat Northshore 32-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action Saturday in Upper Lake.

Lower Lake sits atop the pee wee standings at 5-0.

Erian Gonzalez rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns, caught a 25-yard TD pass, and passed for another score. Camari Onwuasoeze passed for one touchdown and had a TD catch for the Trojans.

“Erian had himself a game offensively this week and completed the touchdown trifecta – a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and a passing touchdown,” Lower Lake head coach Jamez Conatser said. “Then he added another rushing touchdown on top of it. He continues to stay hot for us offensively, but what I’ve been even more impressed with is watching him step further into a leadership role on this team.”

Also for Lower Lake, Draco Benefield caught a touchdown pass and scored on a conversion, and William Villa Jr. ran for another score. Brayden Walsh added a conversion run.

Lower Lake’s defense held Northshore to minus-37 yards. Onwuasoeze led the Trojans with five tackles for loss while Cristiano Lopez had three. Other tackles for loss went to Villa and Travis Johnson. Eli Hermann recovered a fumble.

“Our defense continues to dominate as well, and this week it was led by none other than our quarterback, Camari,” Conatser said. “Everybody knows what Camari can do offensively. He’s a kid capable of rushing for 100-plus yards on any given Saturday, but what he’s doing on the defensive side of the ball has been just as impressive.”

Added Conatser, “This team continues to show that we’re not built around one player or one side of the football. Every week somebody steps up, and right now both sides of the ball are playing at a very high level.”

Lower Lake hits the road next Saturday to play Cloverdale.
