Wildcats knock off Terrace, Broncos defeat Lucerne

UPPER LAKE >> Upper Lake Middle School’s A-level volleyball team improved to 4-0 in league play with a 25-8, 25-12 over the visiting Terrace Middle School Vikings on Monday in Upper Lake.
“We did a great job at the service line tonight,” Upper Lake head coach Darrin Brown said. “We kept pressure on the entire game. With seven out of 10 girls being seventh-graders, I like where we are at at this point of the season.”
Melissa Murphy led the ace parade for Upper Lake with seven, and Adriana Herrera-Cook had six. Right behind were Cali Munoz with five, Kaleah Allison with four and Azalia Monlo with three.
The Wildcats, now 6-2 overall, travel to Kelseyville on Wednesday to play Mountain Vista Middle School.

Middletown def. Lucerne
At Lucerne, Lily Day’s seven aces and four kills propelled the Middletown Broncos (2-2) to a 25-10, 25-13 road win against Lucerne.
Remmi Harbison added six aces and four assists in the win, Stella Brand had three aces and three assists, and Alexis Theodorou finished with three kills and an ace.
“Lucerne’s small gym can be tricky to play in, but the girls adapted well and played well together,” Middletown head coach Niki Emberson said.
Middletown’s B team also came away with a win, 25-8, 25-17. Grace Hawkins served up seven aces for the Broncos while Madison Lewis and Katalia Mendez each had six. Quinn Holley added three more.
The Wildcats remain unbeaten in league play at 4-0.
“These girls continue to impress me with their positivity and great teamwork,” Emberson said.
Middletown’s teams close out the first half of their league season Wednesday in Lakeport against Terrace School.
