Cross country team participates in Eye Opener Invitational at Petaluma course

PETALUMA >> Charlize Hill placed third in the sophomore race Saturday as members of the Middletown High School cross country team all set personal bests during the Ninth Annual Eye Opener Invitational at Schollenber Park in Petaluma.
All races were 3 miles.
“PRs all around,” Middletown head coach Taylor Tiraterra said. “Our boys team is dynamite this year, and Charlie Hill is already one of the fastest runners MHS had had in decades.”
Hill completed the course in 20 minutes, 16.9 seconds. Teammates Nick Lopez (26:19.2) and Alondra Martinez (32:51.0) finished 17th and 27th, respectively.
In other girls competition, Brooklyn Lighter (32:26.7) placed 18th in the freshman race, Madison Lighter (32:49.2) was 24th in the junior race, and Lupita Cabrera (22:48.2) nailed down 10th place in the junior race.
Boys
Tucker West had the best finish among the Middletown boys, claiming ninth in the freshman boys race at 17:44.60. In the senior boys race, Isael Haro finished 15th in 18:30.3 while Ren Ueno was right behind him in 16th at 18:39.3. My Nguyen was 29th in 22:44.4.
In the junior boys race, Gerardo Rodriguez placed 19th in 18:45.96 and Kai Sooy was 24th in 19:20.74.
Gabe Aispuro came in 38th in the sophomore boys race in 19:42.4.
