MIDDLETOWN >> Clear Lake High School’s junior varsity volleyball team went the distance with the Middletown Mustangs, winning 25-9, 21-25, 15-12 during non-league action Thursday in Middletown.

Middletown won the varsity match by forfeit.

“We started off pretty shaky,” Middletown coach Erika Galvan said of the JV Mustangs’ first set against Clear Lake. “Once they got over their nerves and settled it, they did pretty well. The way we played in the first set versus the second two sets showed a different team.”

Lilly Reyes had six assists and an ace for Middletown. Carlee Williams added 10 digs, three kills and one ace while libero Janel Wilkinson had nine digs and one ace.

Clear Lake statistics weren’t reported.

Middletown’s varsity competes in the NorCal Invitational Saturday at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park and is on the road Tuesday against Healdsburg in a non-league match.
