Boehm rushes for 172 yards, three touchdowns as Cougars capture season opener

UPPER LAKE >> Bobby Wenning’s eight tackles, including a sack, sparked a shutout effort by the Northshore junior varsity youth football team in a season-opening 24-0 win over the Sonoma Dragons on Saturday in Upper Lake.
Dean Boehm and Legend Sullivan turned in solid efforts on both sides of the line of scrimmage for the Cougars (1-0). Boehm rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns while also intercepting a pass. Sullivan added 47 rushing yards on eight carries and also picked off a Sonoma pass.
“This was a great team win,” Northshore head coach Bradley Brackett said. “Sonoma had great athletes, they passed the ball around well. We stayed disciplined and everyone did their job to get a shutout victory.”
Zayden Suzor added to Northshore’s offensive attack with 83 rushing yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.
The Cougars are off until Sept. 12 when they visit Fort Bragg.
