Vasquez rushes for 155 yards, touchdown in 30-6 win over Lower Lake

LOWER LAKE >> Brayan Vasquez, Isaia Pena, Jose Beecher Delgado and Chase Noble all ran for touchdowns as the Upper Lake High School football team opened the 2026 season with a 30-6 victory Thursday evening at Gordon Sadler Field in Lower Lake.
Vasquez scored on a 45-yard run, the longest of the night for the Cougars (1-0). He finished with 155 yards on 19 carries. Beecher Delgado added 73 yards on 11 carries while Billy Pimental had 52 yards on three carries.
Upper Lake rolled up 517 yards of total offense and opened up a 30-0 lead before Lower Lake finally scored on a Jamin Bagsby 83-yard kickoff return. The Cougars took a 24-0 lead into halftime.
“Our line is pretty young, but they did what they needed to do,” Upper Lake head coach Don Meri said. “Our running backs were very patient and let their blocking develop.”
Upper Lake’s offense scored on four of its six possessions, and the Cougars were successful on three two-point conversions.
Angelo Macias anchored the Upper Lake defense with nine unassisted tackles and two sacks. Adrian Valencia finished with three tackles, five assists and one sack.
“We played pretty solid defense,” Meri said.
The JV Cougars take next week off before returning to action Sept. 11 in Cloverdale at 5 p.m.
