LOWER LAKE >> Middletown High School’s boys soccer team earned its second tie in a row, battling the Lower Lake Trojans to a 1-1 non-league draw on Friday in Lower Lake.
Both teams remain undefeated in the early going of the 2026 season, Middletown at 1-0-2 and Lower Lake at 2-0-1.
“It was a true defensive battle from start to finish,” Middletown head coach Katie Robinson said. “Both teams came ready to compete.”
Lower Lake took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Middletown answered in the 15th minute on a goal by freshman Eli Pulido.
“We made some adjustments to our lineup and went with four defenders, and that change paid off,” Robinson said. “Our defense stayed organized, communicated well, and battled for every to keep Lower Lake from finding the back of the net.”
Middletown defensive leaders were senior captain Luis Pamatz and junior Jose Delgado with 10 steals apiece, and senior Harrison Brown with eight steals.
“Our defense was relentless all night,” Robinson said.
Middletown’s coach also had high praise for the play of senior captain Wyatt Davis.
“He did an outstanding job maintaining control of the field and helping direct the team throughout the match,” Robinson said.
Added Robinson, “A huge shoutout to junior goalkeeper and captain David Reyes, who had an amazing game with 16 saves … eight in each half. He came up especially big late in the second half with under five minutes left, making a clutch penalty-kick save to help preserve the tie.”
The name of Lower Lake’s goal scorer was not reported.
