Under-16 goes 4-0, allows only four goals

DAVIS >> The Carbajal under-16 girls team of the Konocti Youth Soccer League won all four of its games Saturday and Sunday to take the championship trophy in the NorCal Super Rec Tournament in Davis.
The KYSL team, which was moved into the top division of the tournament, allowed only three goals in its four games. After beating Winters 2-1 and San Ramon 4-0 on Saturday, the Carbajal under-16 squad came back Sunday with a 4-2 win over Roseville, a victory that propelled it into the championship game against Rocklin. Carbajal under-16 won 1-0 on a goal by Jeannette Luevano, with the assist going to Sellena Carbajal.
Earlier Sunday against Roseville, Carbajal scored twice while Luevano and Evelyn Vargas each had one goal.
During Saturday’s game against Winters, Alina Luchsinger and Amelie Davis scored goals, both of them assisted by Carbajal. Against San Ramon, Luevano scored twice while Carbajal and Aaliyah Macias each had one goal. Carbajal and Luevano had assists.
Though competing in the 16-and-under division, Carbajal said eight of his players are 14-and-under eligible.
“Our defense did a great job,” Carbajal said. “I’m very proud of them.”
