Cardinals roll past Calistoga Wildcats in straight sets

LAKEPORT >> Ashlynn Cruz led the way with 11 kills while teammate Aniya Jauregui added seven kills as the Clear Lake Cardinals opened the 2026 volleyball season with a 25-13, 25-17, 25-15 non-league win over the Calistoga Wildcats on Wednesday night in Lakeport.
“The team has shown so much improvement in their attitude, energy and teamwork, and it’s exciting to see their hard work paying off,” Clear Lake head coach Izzy Short said. “I’m proud of the growth they’re showing both on and off the court.”
Avery Fiske had five kills for the Cardinals (1-0).
Clear Lake returns to action Friday in the annual Cougar Invitational, a 12-team tournament in Upper Lake. The Cardinals are guaranteed at least three matches. The top eight teams advance out of pool play and into the playoffs. Action begins at 11 a.m.
Clear Lake’s junior varsity squad won 25-17, 25-11. The Cardinals participate in the JV portion of the Cougar Invitational on Saturday in Upper Lake. Action begins at 8 a.m.
