KELSEYVILLE >> Winning pitcher Peyton Beehler worked 4 2/3 innings while also going 3-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate as the Middletown Broncos completed their league schedule with an 11-4 win over the Mountain Vista Lancer in middle school softball action Thursday in Kelseyville.
Middletown (9-1 league, 11-2 overall) will be the No. 1 seed next week when the Lake County Junior High Athletic League tournament opens. Mountain Vista (5-5, 7-10) will also be in the mix during the postseason competition.
It was the second straight day the two teams played owing to a rainout earlier in the season. Middletown won 11-6 during a Wednesday game at Middletown.
“We played much better today than yesterday,” Mountain Vista head coach David Kennedy said. “Middletown was able to capitalize on a couple of two-out, no-one-on rallies and we weren’t able to do the same in the first couple of innings when we had the bases loaded.”
Three Middletown players collected three hits apiece. Besides Beehler, Cataleya Valencia went 3-for-3 and Avery Zolensky went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Other Broncos leaders were Mia Martin (2-for-4, double) and Heather Warren (1-for-3, triple, two RBIs).
Kaitlyn Tarin went 2-for-3 with a RBI to lead Mountain Vista while Aliana Gomez went 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. Aubrey Mullen and Maylee Antoni also had hits.
Nevaeh Davis was the losing pitcher.
