Broncos knock off Lucerne in middle school softball action, improve to 5-1 in league

LUCERNE >> Mia Martin, Cataleya Valencia and winning pitcher Peyton Beehler each had two hits as the Middletown Middle School softball team defeated Lucerne 10-5 on Wednesday in Lucerne.
Heather Warren (1-for-3) and Frankie Fagalde (1-for-2) drove in two runs apiece for the Broncos (5-1 league, 7-1 overall). Martin and Warren both had doubles.
Beehler struck out 12 and walked only one while throwing a complete game. Losing pitcher Angelina Gozony struck out six and walked one.
Gozony (1-for-3) knocked in two runs for Lucerne and Chevy Sprague went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Sophie Basurto and Monique Gozony added two hits apiece.
Middletown is on the road Monday to play Upper Lake at 4:30 p.m.
