BOONVILLE >> Kelseyville High School’s tennis team closed out its Coastal Mountain Conference North schedule with a 4-1 victory over Anderson Valley on Tuesday in Boonville.
Kelseyville finishes 8-4 and in third place in the standings, its only losses coming to North champion Middletown and runner-up Mendocino.
Anderson Valley’s lone win against the Knights came in No. 1 singles where Guy Kephart rallied to beat Maddy Borghesani 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
“Maddy took her foot off the pedal and Guy is a good enough player to take advantage of it,” Kelseyville head coach Andy Dobusch said.
The other two singles matches went to the Knights. Liv Bushey beat Arturo Garcia 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in second singles while Jesse Barnett beat Gryffin Chagoya 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 in third singles.
“Solid match for Olivia,” Dobusch said. “Down 6-3 in the tie break, she saved two set points and won five points in a row to win the set. Arturo didn’t go away in the second set. Olivia had to play good tennis in tough, windy conditions to get the win.”
Added Dobusch, “Jesse came out ahead in a see-saw battle (in third singles). Winning a three-setter is a nice way for Jesse to end his senior year.”
While Anderson Valley forfeited in second doubles, Kelseyville’s Manny Ingrassia and Milez Giambra won 6-3, 6-4 in first doubles.
“Our newly formed doubles team showed rapid improvement and thankfully was able to win in straight sets,” Dobusch said.
Many of Kelseyville’s players will be participating in the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships Friday and Saturday in Rohnert Park.
