CORNING >> Lake County’s home run leader in softball is also hitting them out of the park on the high school rodeo circuit.

Kelseyville High School junior Josie Keithly concluded a sensational 2025-26 rodeo season Friday and Saturday at Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Corning where she came away with several top honors during the seventh and final competition of the California High School Rodeo Association District 2 schedule.

During action Friday, Keithly finished first in pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping while also taking second in barrel racing. After Saturday’s round of events were factored into the scoring, Keithly ended up first in in breakaway roping and barrel racing, second in team roping and third in goat tying. Her overall points accumulated for all events over the seven rodeos she competed in this season earned her the title of All-Around Cowgirl champion for District 2.

Since the top six finishers in each event in all nine of the CHSRA districts qualify for the California High School Rodeo State Championship on June 8-15 in Bishop, Keithly will compete in five different events there – barrels, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping and pole bending.

Keithly competes on three different horses that she helped train. They are Kisses, Hustler and Blondie.

As a member of the Kelseyville High School softball team this season, Keithly has hit two home runs in a game twice and has five overall to lead all Lake County players (softball and baseball).
