COVELO >> Kelseyville High School’s boys volleyball team experimented by moving some players around Monday night during a 25-12, 25-14, 25-19 win over Round Valley during North Central League I action in Covelo.

The Knights improved to 6-1 in the league standings and 8-9 overall while remaining one game behind Technology (7-0).

“This was the perfect match to try some new things,” Kelseyville head coach Kc White said. “We had our libero, George Cline, play front row today. We had Jose Mejia do some setting. We moved Sebastian Cacho to outside hitter. We called one of our redshirts, David Hernandez, up for duty, too.”

Added White, “A lot of aces from our side and a lot of missed serves from the other side meant less opportunities for hitting and defense. We need to pick up our game for our next match on Thursday versus Credo, a team we beat in five sets earlier this season.”

Andon Beall had four kills on seven swings, four digs and two aces in limited action. Diego Rico added seven assists and four aces, Kolby Medina contributed five aces, three digs and two kills, Cacho had five kills on 12 swings, Alex Jimenez finished with two kills, and Hernandez led the team with five aces.

“I though Sebastian Cacho and Alex Jimenez hit really well from the left side today,” White said. “Alex has been in that position primarily for the whole season but just hasn’t cracked the lineup. He showed me that he’s ready for more minutes. Sebastian is tall and springy, so I have always envisioned him playing on the left side. He did not disappoint today. He hit it hard when he had the opportunity and had some great tips in the other instances as well.”

Kelseyville hosts Credo on Thursday at 6 p.m.
