COBB MOUNTAIN >> Sonoma Academy won by a healthy margin over Middletown in Coastal Mountain Conference South golf action Thursday at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.
The Coyotes finished with a score of 353 (the combined total of its four low individual rounds) to Middletown’s 382, Technology’s 417 and St. Helena’s 431. Noticeably absent was Kelseyville, which won’t field a team for the first time in the school’s long and distinguished history in that sport. Not enough Knights signed up to play, according to head coach Tim Conrad, forcing Kelseyville to cancel its season. The Knights were a CMC South power for many years under former longtime head coach John Berry, winning many championships.
David Sisson of Middletown fired a low round of 79 with one birdie on the par-68 Adams Springs course. Lucca Modica of Sonoma Academy was next at 83 and teammate John Berry (no relation to the former Kelseyville coach) had 86.
Other low scores went to Lucas Vaio of Sonoma Academy (88), Grant McMillan of Middletown (93), who had one birdie, Dilyan Lopez of Technology (93) and Elias Kelperis of St. Helena (93).
The CMC South teams return to action Thursday at Sugarloaf Golf Course in Santa Rosa at 1:30 p.m.
