KELSEYVILLE >> The two teams that have dominated the North Central League I in boys volleyball each of the last two seasons, the Kelseyville Knights and Roseland University Prep Knights, squared off Wednesday night in Kelseyville. The Knights won, as in the hometown guys.

Kelseyville moved to 3-1 in the league standings and 4-4 overall with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-17 victory.

Andon Beall led the way with nine kills on 19 arm swings and only one error. He added four aces, three assists, four digs and one block. Kolby Medina contributed seven kills on 12 arm swings.

“It was a team effort tonight,” Kelseyville head coach Kc White said. “Everyone got in the game, and you can really see the improvement. They are starting to look like a volleyball team. Our passing tonight was really good, especially on serve receive. Our block is really coming along as we are getting a lot of touches on the other team’s swings.”

Added White, “We made one adjustment to move Kolby Medina to outside hitter, and boy, he did not disappoint, hitting .583 on the night. Of course, Andon Beall was a beast, hitting .421. I had three people set tonight (Diego Rico, Julio Lopez, and Miguel Corona,) and each guy did a great job.”

Rico finished with three kills, nine assists and five digs while George Cline had nine digs as well as a team-high 12 aces. Lopez added five assists and three aces.

“I’m a proud coach tonight because I feel like everyone contributed to tonight’s win,” White said. “The tournament over the weekend really helped our team. That tough competition where they all serve and hit the lights out really helped our defense. I’m excited to continue watching our growth the rest of the season.”

Kelseyville hosts Laytonville on Thursday at 6 p.m.
