BUCKINGHAM >> Edging out Fort Bragg by a single stroke, the Upper Lake High School golf team made some school history Wednesday by winning a Coastal Mountain Conference North match at the par-72 Buckingham Golf and Country Club.
It marked the first time Upper Lake golf has won a conference match, the first of eight to be played this season among North teams.
With the best four out of five individual scores determining each team’s final total, Upper Lake finished with 387, Fort Bragg 388, Clear Lake 401 and two-time defending North champion Willits 411.
Tyler Collins led Upper Lake with a 14-over-par round of 86 followed by Jaden Nunez with 95, Landen Robinson with 97 and Gage Faalelea with 107.

Francis Rivera’s 92 led Clear Lake. Logan Percaccio finished with 94, Lee Butcher had 102 and Levi Ewing 113.
Willits had the two lowest individual rounds of the day but also the two highest, accounting for its last-place finish. Nikolai Ritchley was the day’s medalist at 4-over-par 76, and teammate Cole Lane carded 81.
Two other CMC North teams, Lower Lake and Mendocino, did not attend the match.
