Cayden Beecher’s 16 points power Upper Lake A boys basketball team

UPPER LAKE >> The Upper Lake Wildcats knocked off the Terrace Middle School Vikings 42-35 in A-level boys basketball action Tuesday in Upper Lake.
Upper Lake led 12-10 after one quarter, 21-14 at halftime and 25-18 through three quarters.
Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the final period, scoring 17 points apiece.
“This was a true defensive battle,” Upper Lake head coach Dani Paige Gudmundson said of the first three quarters. “It could have swung either way at any moment if we let up.”
The Wildcats were minus Jose Beecher, one of their top players, but Gudmundson said the other players stepped up to fill the void.
“I’m incredibly proud of the effort and resilience they showed,” Gudmundson said of her players.
Cayden Beecher led the Wildcats with s with16 points, six rebounds, four assists and eight steals while teammate Dezmond Solomon added a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Other leaders were Bennett Guardino with eight points and 11 rebounds, and Gage Schramm had five points.
“Great team win and a great example of what happens when everyone steps up and plays their role,” Gudmundson said.
Terrace scoring was not reported.
