UPPER LAKE >> Kelseyville High School wrestling remained undefeated in the Coastal Mountain Conference dual standings with wins over Upper Lake and Middletown during action Wednesday night in Upper Lake.

Kelseyville beat Upper Lake 58-24 and Middletown 57-17.

“Kelseyville is truly on a roll as we get ready for the postseason,” Kelseyville head coach Shane Carl said. “The team is hitting their stride at just the right moment, showcasing incredible momentum and unity. It’s inspiring to see out athletes working together, demonstrating both skill and determination.”

Kelseyville wrestlers who won their matches against Upper Lake and Middletown were Brandon Brown, Madeline Hayes, Cassius Cole, Hayden Brown, Cody Holmes, Hannah Bila and John Carr.

In one of the night’s featured matches, state-ranked Aiden Dancer of Upper Lake pinned Andrew Souza of Kelseyville.

“We wanted the tough matchup and we got it,” Carl said. “Andrew wrestled a tough opponent, wrestled tough and smart and didn’t go down without a fight. Definitely one of the best matches of the night.”

Added Carl, “Andrew Souza is wrestling really good against tough kids. I’m excited to see how he does during the postseason.”

Against Middletown, Kelseyville won 11 of 14 weight divisions, including four pins, one technical fall and two major decisions.

Kelseyville’s wrestlers return to action Saturday at the San Ramon Invitational. The Knights host Cloverdale and Willits in a CMC dual Wednesday.

“We are excited to see how we do at the San Ramon Invitational and we’re confident that this momentum will carry us through to our upcoming duals against Willits and Cloverdale. Senior night on the 21st (next Wednesday) promises to be a special occasion as we honor our seniors who have contributed to our program.”

Added Carl, “Our focus remains on maintaining this positive energy and pushing ourselves to new heights. The commitment and hard work exhibited by our athlete are commendable, and I couldn’t be prouder to coach such a dedicated group.”
