Mustangs compete in 42nd annual Mariner Invitational

FREMONT >> Middletown High School’s cross country team sent runners to the 42nd P. Wilder Mariner Invitational Saturday at Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont.

Landon Pisaro was Middletown’s top finisher in the 5,000-meter boys championship race while Len Rivas led a group of six Mustangs in the 5,000-meter girls championship race.

Pisaso placed 66th in a field of 112 runners with a time of 18 minutes, 19.1 seconds followed by teammates Ren Ueno, 83rd in 19:22.3, and Isael Haro, 98th in 20:017.

Other Middletown runners were Gerardo Rodriguez (105th in 21:22.7), My Nguyen (110th in 23:58.2) and Mason Broussard (112th in 26:20.4).

Grayson Langford of College Park won the race in 15:59.1.

Girls

Len Rivas finished 75th (24:17.8) out of 112 runners in the girls championship race. Two of her teammates also cracked the top 100. Nala Montgomery was 87th in 25:11.4, and Alivia Stark was 94th in 25:45.3.

Also for the Mustangs, Nick Lopez was 110th in 31:30, Lilly Solis placed 111th in 32:45.4, and Maddison Lighter was 112th in 34:08.5.

Ella Mogannam of Lick Wilmerding crossed the finish line first in 17:07.0.

Middletown returns to action Wednesday in Kelseyville where all of the North Central League I team will be competing.
