LOWER LAKE >> Setting up a week five showdown with Westshore, the Lower Lake pee wee youth football shut out Cloverdale 28-0 on Saturday at Gordon Sadler Field in Lower Lake, improving to 3-0-1 on the season.

Lower Lake travels to Lakeport on Saturday to play the undefeated Cardinals (4-0) at 3:30 p.m.

The Trojans’ defense against Cloverdale was led by Wyatt Hooten, Vinnie Steffen and Isaiah Dominguez with three solo tackles apiece. Sebastian James intercepted a pass and had a sack while Damian Menjivar also had a sack.

On offense, quarterback Steffen had a 16-yard touchdown pass to James, Erian Gonzalez added 75 yards rushing, including a 43-yard TD, and Maxx Wilkins rushed for 52 yards, a touchdown and an extra point. Wyatt Hooten led the team with 86 yards rushing, including a TD and an extra point, and Steffen rushed for 84 yards and passed for another 19. James also scored an extra point.

“We have a lot of hard-working kids that leave it all on the field every weekend,” Lower Lake head coach Daniel Hooten said. “I am very proud of them. We have a big game this weekend against undefeated Westshore. It will be a battle.”
