MIDDLETOWN >> Emma Jones served 12 points, four of them aces, and also had four kills on just seven arm swings Friday night as the Middletown High School junior varsity volleyball team wasted no time in beating St. Bernard 25-4, 25-13 in non-league action at Middletown.

“Emma Jones had her best outing yet with beautiful hard serves and amazing hitting to propel us to victory,” Middletown head coach Vanessa Davis said.

Jones had plenty of help from her teammates as the Mustangs needed only seven minutes to win the first set against the Crusaders. Middle blocker Grace Williams contributed six service points with three aces and four kills; outside hitter Emma Davis had eight service points, including six aces, to go along with five kills and five digs; and setter Hannah Tribby added 14 assists, six service points, including two aces.

“We controlled our own errors very well,” Davis said.

The Mustangs return to action Thursday in Ukiah.
