Clear Lake girls, Lower Lake boys win

Soccer teams kick off 2025 high school sports season at Lower Lake

LOWER LAKE >> The first games of the 2025-26 high school sport season are officially in the books as the Clear Lake and Lower Lake girls and boys soccer teams squared off Tuesday in non-league-action at Lower Lake High School.

Both games ended in shutouts. The Clear Lake girls blanked Lower Lake 3-0 while the Trojan boys were 14-0 winners over the Cardinals.

Girls

Clear Lake took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Kam Cresto goal assisted by Giselle Carbajal. The Cardinals (1-0) tacked on two insurance goals in the second half, unassisted scores by Carbajal and Hailey Perez.

“Our defense played amazing,” Clear Lake head coach Gustavo Carbajal said. “Shoutout to Amalie Davis who had amazing saves. She had over 10 saves.”

Added Carbajal of his team’s first effort of the fall season, “It was a very hard game.”

Clear Lake returns home to play Kelseyville on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Lower Lake (0-1) hits the road Friday to take on Upper Lake at 4:30 p.m.

Boys

Coming off a 12-4-1 season in 2024 and a runner-up finish in the North Central League I, the Lower Lake boys took care of business against Clear Lake, under the direction of first-year coach Anthony Duncan, in the season opener for both teams.

Lower Lake scoring was not reported to Lake County Sports.

The Trojans (1-0) travel to Upper Lake on Friday to meet the Cougars at 6:15 p.m. The Cardinals (0-1) try again for their first win Thursday at home against Kelseyville at 4:30 p..
