Owen Willard’s three-run, inside-the-park home run helps rally team from 9-2 deficit

LIVE OAK >> The Middletown-Cobb Little League 8-10 All-Stars beat Live Oak 20-9 on Friday night in Live Oak, riding the bat of Owen Willard to a big come-from-behind victory at Live Oak.
Willard singled home a run in the first inning and connected for a three-run, inside-the-park home run in the third as Middletown-Cobb rallied from an early 9-2 deficit.
A six-run third inning featuring Willard’s home run launched the comeback victory. Among Middletown-Cobb’ six hits in the third inning were RBI singles by Paul Bleuss and Jackson Martin, and a RBI double by Faith Myers.
Middletown-Cobb pushed in front with a three-run fourth. Mark Tregenza doubled and scored on Wyatt Willard’s triple. Bleuss followed with a RBI single and Drake Clark added a RBI groundout.
Middletown-Cobb put the game away with an eight-run fifth inning. Bleuss, Kian Woods and Wyatt Willard had two-run singles while Martin and Seth Hartley drew bases-loaded walks.
Wyatt Willard worked three hitless and scoreless innings in relief to register the win. He struck out six and walked two.
Bleuss collected three of Middletown-Cobb’s 15 hits. Middletown-Cobb also drew seven walks and stole nine bases.
Middletown-Cobb returns to Live Oak on Monday for an 8 p.m. game.
