HEALDSBURG >> Minus several starters, the Kelseyville High School softball team dropped a 10-2 non-league decision to the Healdsburg Greyhounds on Saturday in Healdsburg.
“We played shorthanded,” Kelseyville head coach Brittany Rumfelt said. “We had girls out due to other sports and it hurt us big time.”
The absences were particularly felt on defense where the Knights (0-5) committed seven errors.
Morgan Rogers pitched a complete game after going the distance a day earlier in a nine-inning league loss to Lower Lake.
“Rogers powered through, doing an amazing job,” Rumfelt said of the junior’s 15 innings of work during a 24-hour span.
“We had a chance to start some younger athletes who stepped up,” Rumfelt added.
Rogers, Hayden White, Kylee Denham, Jordyn Wurm and Gemma Lewis each had one hit.
Kelseyville is scheduled to play a North Central League I game Tuesday in Middletown at 4 p.m.
