LAKEPORT >> Atiana Patino pitched a two-hitter while Faith McIntire, Lindee Bingham and Hailey Perez knocked in three runs apiece as the Clear Lake High School softball team beat Point Arena 15-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Lakeport.

The game, originally scheduled for Tuesday but pushed back to Wednesday because of the weather, was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Clear Lake (2-1) scored six times in the bottom of the second inning to go up 6-0. The Cardinals added five more runs in the third before Point Arena scored twice in the top of the fourth. Clear Lake answered with four runs in the bottom half.

The Cardinals banged out 10 hits in support of Patino, two each from Cali Albaum (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Kam Cresto (2-for-3). McIntire, Karsyn Greer and Ashlynn Cruz all added doubles.

Bingham took a hard shot off her fingernail during warmups but was able to stay in the lineup.

“She stuck it out like a trooper,” Clear Lake head coach Scott Schaefers said of the junior infielder.

Patino struck out five and walked two during her complete-game effort.

While rainy weather the past week has hampered activity for all of the county’s outdoors spring sports teams, Schaefers said the Clear Lake softball field was in pretty good shape thanks to the hard work of the school’s maintenance department.

“The infield was in a lot better shape and the outfield than in the past,” Schaefers said. “They did a great job getting the field ready.”

With another round of rain expected, the game time was moved up an hour to 3 p.m.

“It was just nice to see my girls out there having fun,” Schaefers said.

Weather and field conditions permitting Clear Lake is scheduled to travel to Willits on Friday for a non-league game at 4 p.m. The Cardinals open their North Central League I schedule March 28 at home against defending champion St. Helena.
