Mustangs improve to 3-0, hit the road Friday to take on Willits

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> Middletown High School’s tennis team swept the singles portion of Tuesday’s Coastal Mountain Conference match with Mendocino, the Mustangs prevailing 4-1 at the Hidden Valley Lake courts.
The Middletown trio of Will Hoskins (first singles), Harrison Brown (second singles) and Anthony Lopez (third singles) all won in straight sets. Hoskins beat Emerson Harris 6-0, 6-4, Brown defeated Leah Vodopals 6-1, 6-1, and Lopez beat Kyle Gomez 6-2, 6-0.
“The top three singles (players) all came back from not playing last week because of rain and played strong,” Middletown head coach Tony Hart said.
Middletown’s fourth win was a forfeit in first doubles. Mendocino’s lone win came in second doubles where Summer Nemeth and Eli Griffin defeated Siobhan Ryan and Arianna Sypnicki 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Middletown (3-0) plays Friday in Willits at 4 p.m.
