ST. HELENA >> Mariah Bal slugged her first home run of the season, a three-run blast, but it wasn’t enough to rally the Lower Lake Trojans in a 10-7 Saturday night loss to the Fortuna Huskies at St. Helena High School.
Lower Lake (1-2) dug itself a 10-2 hole before rallying for five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Bal, a senior, slugged a Lake County-record eight homers last season for the Trojans, who dropped their second straight.
Fortuna built a 10-2 lead against Aly Aguirre, who was making her first start of the season for the Trojans. She allowed nine runs (six earned) in five innings, struck out three and walked seven. Bal finished up.
Bal, Aguirre (RBI) and Jamiya Lee-Ayers (RBI) all went 1-for-3 for the Trojans.
The Trojans hit the road Tuesday to play Healdsburg at 4 p.m.
