Lower Lake’s newest sports team makes debut

Trojans lose non-league match in three sets to Kelseyville boys volleyball squad

LOWER LAKE >> Playing the first boys volleyball match in the school’s history, the Lower Lake Trojans fell in three sets to the Kelseyville Knights on Thursday in Lower Lake.

Kelseyville won the first two sets 25-11, 25-13. The score in the third set was not available.

“The first boy volleyball game in Lower Lake High School history was a learning experience for us,” Lower Lake head coach Danessa Udy said. “The loss to Kelseyville wasn’t what we were hoping for, but at this point every game is a step toward growth and experience.”

Christopher Castillo led the Trojans (0-1) with four kills and 11 assists. Jason Gandeza added four kills, Jeremiah Lopez and Rainier McNeely had three kills apiece, and Alfonso Rones had two kills.

Kelseyville statistics were not reported.
