Knights go 1-4 at NorCal Invitational in Novato; play Lower Lake on Monday

NOVATO >> Kelseyville High School’s boys volleyball team opened a new season by going 1-4 Saturday at the NorCal Invitational in Novato.
The Knights lost to Terra Linda of San Rafael, St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda and Mission of San Francisco in pool play. They went on to defeat San Marin (Novato) two sets to one in the opening round of bracket play before losing in three sets to Novato in their final match.
“The boys really learned a lot,” Kelseyville head coach Donelle McCallister said.
Kelseyville won a share of the North Central League I championship a year ago in its first season of existence. The team is led by veterans Andon Beall (setter/outside hitter), Julian Armas (setter/outside hitter); Jorge Bernal (setter/opposite hitter), Otoniel Rivas (libero), and Jozef Ariaz (opposite hitter). New players are Fabrizio Herrera, George Baqleh, Izeah Ely, Diego Batres, Kolby Medina, and Adrian Garcia.
The Knights are scheduled to play Lower Lake’s first-year team on the road Monday at 6 p.m.
