Trojans defeat Middletown, Upper Lake in tri-meet at Upper Lake

UPPER LAKE >> Lower Lake High School’s wrestling team opened the Coastal Mountain Conference season with a 51-24 win over Middletown and a 42-24 victory over Upper Lake during a tri-meet in Upper Lake.
Upper Lake honored seniors on all three teams and also held a moment of silence for Upper Lake great Junior Fernandez, who died last year following a short battle with leukemia.
Lower Lake vs. Middletown
Lower Lake won three of the four contested matches – the remainder were forfeits. Winners for the Trojans were Jesse Saldana at 115 pounds, AJ Myers in the heavyweight division, and Riley Givens at 108 pounds.
Lower Lake vs. Upper Lake
Upper Lake won four of the six contested matches with Lower Lake although it wasn’t enough for the team win. Saldana pinned Upper Lake’s Rene Lope at 115 pounds.
Schedule
Lower Lake travels to the King of the Mat tournament on Saturday.
