Middletown beats Upper Lake in middle school girls basketball action

MIDDLETOWN >> Playing their final home game of the season, the Middletown Middle School Broncos had their most productive night on the court this season, beating the Upper Lake Wildcats 50-30.
“Our motto this year is ‘I am stronger because my teammate is strong. Her success is my success.’ And my girls are holding true to wanting to see each other succeed and passing the ball well. We scored 50 points, and you don’t do that without every member of your team contributing in some way,” Middletown head coach Shannon Williams said.
Anaya Kilstrom’s 10 points led the Broncos’ offensive barrage. Middletown built a 30-16 halftime lead before putting the game away with a 16-3 third quarter.
Lilliaunna Reyes added nine points while Alina Kilstrom and Jaquelin Nunez added eight apiece. Middletown had 44 rebounds as a team, Nunez pulling down seven. The Broncos also had 29 steals and 11 assists.
Middletown’s B team won 20-1 as Sophia Perez scored nine points with six steals. Remmi Harbison added four points, three steals and two rebounds.
