AMERICAN CANYON >> Kylee Denham scored in each half as the Kelseyville High School varsity girls soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 non-league victory over American Canyon on Monday in American Canyon.
Denham scored 25 minutes into the first half, knocking in a corner kick from Regina Rico. Denham scored again 23 minutes into the second half, dribbling the ball down the field and blasting a shot past the American Canyon keeper.
“I do have to say that even though I didn’t have all the starting defensive line today, the team still played a good game,” Kelseyville head coach Irma Rodriguez said. “It still wasn’t their best, but they fought hard.”
Defenders Rico, Vanessa Reyes, Arionna Sanderson and Evelin Valdovinos turned back the Wolves at every turn, according to Rodriguez.
“They played a really good defensive game and kept the Wolves from taking shots,” Rodriguez said.
Kelseyville (3-3) heads to Petaluma on Friday.
