SAN FRANCISCO >> It wasn’t Kelseyville’s best effort of the season Saturday as the Knights fell 5-0 to Urban in non-league varsity boys soccer action in San Francisco.
“There’s really not much to say about the game,” Kelseyville head coach KC White said. “We didn’t play up to our standards. We have a lot of soul-searching to do as a team. We are making a lot of simple, mental mistakes that are costing us on the scoreboard.”
Roman Mathis was a standout for the Knights, according to White.
“Roman decided to play soccer this season for the first time,” White said. “I put him in with about 10 minutes left and he brought aggression that was lacking all day. He attacked the ball. I’m extremely proud of him.”
Added White, “The other bright spot was the weather. We did get to enjoy a little time at the beach before our game today. I’m happy we were able to create those indelible memories. At the end of the day, my joy is to make sure the kids are having fun, so I’m happy that we were able to do that today.”
Kelseyville (0-3-2) travels to Orland on Tuesday.
