Under-10 squads compete in California Cup Rec Tournament on Saturday, Sunday

FREMONT >> Four Konocti Youth Soccer League under-10 soccer teams – three boys and one girls – took part in the California Cup Rec Tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Fremont. The competition drew teams from throughout Northern California.
Participating from Lake County were the KYSL Dragons-Hernandez, the KYSL Dragons-Reyes/Marcial, the KYSL Dragons-Espinoza, and the KYSL Dragons Somerville.
Our four teams came prepared and came to play,” coach Roberto Reyes said. “They showcased an impressive level of play, sportsmanship, dedication and hard work. Our teams truly made a name fo themselves at the tournament, making their families and community proud.”
Added Reyes, “We couldn’t have done it without our amazing coaching staff, our manager Alberto Hernandez, and all the family and friends who came out to support these athletes. Lake County definitely made its mark this weekend.”
While none of the four KYSL teams qualified for the tournament playoffs, all picked up some valuable tournament experience, according to Reyes.
Goal leaders for each team were Max Hernandez, Luis Mario Medina and Alvaro Gonzales, two each for the KYSL Dragons-Hernandez; Colten Bush, two goals for KYSL Dragons-Espinoza; Mateo Garcia, two goals, and Aaron Stickler, one goal, for KYSL Dragons-Reyes/Marcial; and one goal each for Austyn Diconza and Annaliya Aguilar of the KYSL Dragons-Somerville.
Each team played three games during the two-day competition.
