Holley’s 12 kills help propel Eagles to straight-set win over Yuba College

UKIAH >> The Mendocino College volleyball team closed out the 2024 season with a 25-14, 25-23, 25-12 win over Yuba College on Wednesday night in Ukiah.
Cora Holley (Middletown) led the way with 12 kills as the Eagles finished 5-5 in the Bay Valley Conference standings and 11-20 overall. Holley, a freshman, also had one ace and one block. Montana Wells (Clear Lake) added 10 kills, four digs and one block while Stella Hill (Clear Lake) led the team with 18 digs. She also had eight kills.
“We finished our season with a win and it feels good,” Mendocino College head coach Kat Edmonds said. “It’s been a long season, but it feels good to see the girls you started with finish together and stronger than ever.”
Other Mendocino College leaders in the season finale were Jayden Paulich (Kelseyville) with 39 assists, eight digs and three kills, Breanna Pyzer (Middletown) with 10 digs, Jaydyn Poe (Upper Lake) with five kills and five digs, Aily Chavez (Willits) with four digs, and Maddy Brewster (Clear Lake) with 13 digs and six kills.
“Our stats don’t really show how hard we played,” Edmonds said. “Everyone contributed tonight and we had fun.”
