Lower Lake falls to Fort Bragg in final North Central League I game

FORT BRAGG >> A season that began with three straight wins ended with seven consecutive losses on Friday night as the Lower Lake Trojans dropped a 50-20 decision to the playoff-bound Fort Bragg Timberwolves in North Central League I varsity football action at Timberwolf Stadium in Fort Bragg.

Lower Lake closes out the year 1-7 in league play and 3-7 overall.

Fort Bragg (5-3 league, 6-4 overall) will learn Sunday who, when and where it is playing next weekend in the opening round of the North Coast Section playoffs.

The Trojans trailed 14-0 after one quarter and 28-0 at halftime in their season finale. They broke up the shutout in the third quarter on a Zack Jones 4-yard run. Later in the same quarter Ashton Hartmann completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Zakai Vilmenay.

Down 42-14 through three quarters, Lower Lake picked up its final six points on a 37-yard pass from Hartmann to Luke Campbell.

Fort Bragg won the junior varsity game 44-16, dropping Lower Lake to 0-8 in league play and 0-8 on the season.
