Middletown travels to Fort Bragg on Thursday for first-place showdown

MIDDLETOWN >> Senior night for the Middletown High School boys soccer team turned into one heck of a celebration as the Mustangs shut out the Upper Lake Cougars 12-0, setting the stage for a first-place showdown with the undefeated Fort Bragg Timberwolves on Tuesday evening in Middletown.
Middletown (6-1-1) travels to Fort Bragg (7-0-1) on Thursday needing a win to pull into a first-place tie for the Timberwolves. Middletown and Fort Bragg tied 3-3 on Oct. 8 in Middletown. Right behind Fort Bragg and Middletown in the league standings are the Lower Lake Trojans (6-2). The Timberwolves can clinch the outright NCL I title with a victory.
Senior captains Alex Hernandez and Seth Watson scored three goals apiece while junior captain Alex Gonzalez also had a hat trick. Single goals went to senior captain Bryan Sanchez, Tony Juarez and Jose Delgado.
The loss dropped Upper Lake to 0-8 in the league standings. The Cougars host Willits on Thursday.
