Lyndall intercepts three passes, forces fumble in NCL I action against Willits

LAKEPORT >> Forget about keep away. Deake Lyndall was playing his own game of takeaway Friday evening for the Kelseyville Knights in a 16-6 victory over the Willits Wolverines in North Central League I junior varsity football action at Don Owens Stadium in Lakeport.
Lyndall picked off three passes and also caused a fumble that the Knights (4-1 league, 5-2 overall) recovered, Ethan Wheeler coming up with the loose ball. His six total tackles led the team while Gordon Astrup and Case Pivniska each had five, and Angel Ruiz four.
Kelseyville’s defense had a shutout going until the 3:53 mark of the fourth quarter when the Wolverines finally scored.
Brayton Thomas led the Knights with 88 yards on the ground, including a 36-yard touchdown run, and Aiden Smith added a 5-yard TD run. Jayden Fabisch finished with 23 yards on five carries. Kelseyville held a 16-0 halftime lead.
Kelseyville kicker George Gonzalez accounted for four of the Knights’ points with a 33-yard field goal and an extra point.
Quarterback Kimo Brown went 5-for-8 for 70 yards, including a 38-yard pass to Andrew Souza.
Kelseyville hits the road next week to play Lower Lake (0-5 league, 0-5 overall).
