SONOMOA >> Vincent Rave and Chance Poland each scored a pair of touchdowns Saturday afternoon as the Westshore pee wee youth football team overwhelmed Sonoma 33-0 in Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action at Sonoma.
Rave finished with 140 yards rushing and also scored two extra points as the Cardinals improved to a league-best 7-0. Adrian Wright added another touchdown and an extra point.
“Great game this past weekend against Sonoma,” Westshore head coach Vince Rave said. “Everybody showed up ready to play. I’m proud of this coaching staff for all their hard work week in and week out.”
Rave credited his offensive line for leading the way.
“Our offensive line has been on fire and really has been opening some good holes for our backs to get through,” Rave said.
The play of Westshore’s defense was nothing less than stellar as the unit held Sonoma to minus-eight yards of total offense. Poland led the way with six tackles and Julian Rascon had five.
“It was a great defensive day, especially with our kids rallying to the ball,” Rave said. “There was a lot of group tackling happening. I love to see it.”
Added Rave, “It was a great all-around team win again. Our team is really starting to click and work together. I love to see these kids play dominant football each week.”
