Cougars knock off Chargers to improve to 2-1 on the season

CLOVERDALE >> Zaedyn Suzor had a great big day for the junior varsity Northshore Cougars in a 26-14 road win against the Cloverdale Chargers on Saturday during Mendo-Lake Empire Junior Football League action in Cloverdale.
Suzor rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns while also catching three pass for 35 yards as the Cougars improved to 2-1.
“This was a bouncback game for this team,” Northshore head coach Bradley Brackett said. “The kids had a chip on their shoulder from the loss and we came out strong, with a score on the first play of the game.”
Dean Boehm also came up big for the Cougars with 210 all-purpose yards, including one rushing touchdown and another touchdown on a kickoff return.
Northshore defensive leaders were Suzor with seven tackles, Declan Elgethun with six, Boehm with four, including one tackle for loss, and Bobby Wenning with three tackles and one sack.
“This was a team win,” Brackett said. “The line blocked well all game. The defense flew around the ball, and we played great coverage against a pass-heavy Cloverdale team.”
Added Bracket, “With two road trips out of Lake County, our kids are excited to play their first Lake County team next Saturday when we travel to Westshore (Lakeport).”
