Tucker rushes for pair of touchdowns, returns fumble for third score

MIDDLETOWN >> The Middletown Colts ran for four touchdowns and returned a fumble for another while beating the Kelseyville Chiefs 34-0 in a Mendo-Lake Empire Youth Football League pee wee game on Saturday at Bill Foltmer Field in Middletown.
Middletown’s defense held Kelseyville (0-3) no negative yardage until the mercy rule went into effect midway through the third quarter.
Elijah Tucker accounted for three of the Colts’ touchdowns, rushing for 61 yards and two scores and returning a fumble 22 yards for a TD. He also had one of the team’s two interceptions.
Eli Hartley rushed for 54 yards while Danny Yell and Colton Smith had rushing touchdowns.
“This was a great bounceback win for us,” Middletown head coach Cody Smith said. “The kids need it. After not getting into the end zone the first two games of the year even though we moved the ball pretty good in both games, it was great to see us open the game up with a 70-yard drive and get that off our back.”
Middletown (2-1) took a 20-0 lead into halftime.
Hartley led the team with three total tackles while Yell had two. Hunter Lauwers had an interception.
“I’m proud of the way the kids showed up this week to practice and put the tough loss (to Lower Lake) behind them. They worked hard, came out and did their jobs.”
Middletown hosts Sonoma (0-3) on Saturday.
