Upper Lake golfers finish three strokes behind Willits

LITTLE RIVER >> Willits edged Upper Lake 259-262 in girls golf action Wednesday at Little River Golf Course on the Mendocino County coast, depriving the Cougars of their first win of the season and the first in school history since it’s a new sport for both squads.
Lower Lake sent two golfers to the match as well but four are needed for a complete team.
Brodey Lamprich of Willits fired a low round of 58 on the nine-hole, par-35 course. Her teammate, Gracie Crook, was next with 62. Rounds of 63 went to Upper Lake’s Kyra Santos and Aubree Sperber. Portia Klier had a round of 67 for the Cougars while teammates Jordyn Parker and Bella Stillman finished with scores of 69. The low four individual rounds count toward the team total.
Autumn Avina’s 63 was the low score for Lower Lake and Avery Garcia had 67.
Sperber and Parker were playing golf for the first time.
Also for Willits, Alieah Barrgan fired a 69 and Sophia Vaccaro had 70.
The same three teams meet next Wednesday at Adams Springs Golf Course at 11 a.m.
