Foley, John spark Upper Lake in non-league varsity volleyball win at home

UPPER LAKE >> Receiving contributions from all over the court, the Upper Lake High School varsity volleyball team beat Calistoga 25-14, 25-15, 25-21 in non-league action Tuesday night in Upper Lake.
“Everyone pitched in during tonight’s win,” Upper Lake head coach Fawn Rave said. “Kenzie Foley did a great job setting tonight and Alyssa John had some good swings.”
The Cougars racked up the aces as well. Aubree Sperber led the team with eight, Jordyn Parker added six more while Foley and Marina Quiett, a freshman, each had four.
“We did well at the service line tonight,” Rave said.
John, a senior, led Upper Lake with eight kills and Sperber, Quiett and Parker each had three. Foley finished with a team-best 12 assists and Parker had two blocks.
In the junior varsity match, Upper Lake defeated Calistoga 25-14, 25-21 behind three kills and three aces from Sabrina Wenning and three kills and one block from Jordin Hughes.
“Everyone played,” Upper Lake head coach Raelene Cromwell said. “Still a little bit of nerves. This group of ladies has potential.”
Upper Lake’s teams return to action Thursday against Anderson Valley in Boonville.
